A Rail is a Rail Freight Development Consultancy set up in 2007 to encourage and develop rail freight facilities.
British Chamber of Commerce
The British Chamber of Commerce has stated that the "rail network should be used by the freight industry to cut its carbon footprint and improve distribution times. Only 12% of the UK's surface freight is transported by rail, but rail produces less than 1% of total UK emissions of carbon dioxide compared with 21% from road transport. By encouraging the movement of freight from the road network onto the railways, the Government can take a massive step forward in meeting its carbon reduction targets."
Freight Transport Association (FTA)
The Freight Transport Association has called for the "continuation of Freight Facilities Grants (FFGs) and for these to be varied to allow the provision of common user facilities. FFGs have successfully moved many loads from road to rail in Scotland."
A Rail has been established by a former British Rail, First Engineering, and English, Welsh and Scottish Railway Company engineer with a proven record in:
- track maintenance
- track renewal
- buildings and services maintenance
Previous works have included major schemes across many parts of the network, both on the National Network and in Private Party Facilities.
